Dani: Hey, Lachlan. How are you going?
Lachlan: I’m well, Dani. How are you?
Dani: Good. Thanks for joining me. So let’s start with who you are, where you’re from.
Lachlan: Yes. So I am from Brisbane, Queensland.
I am a qualified carpenter by trade. Yeah. No experience in trading, so here I am learning.
Dani: So would no experience also include, like, watching a few YouTube videos and having a stab?
Lachlan: Yeah.
Pretty much. So but that was actually the first port port of call was really YouTube. So I’ve I stumbled across training somewhere. I can’t remember where, but then I started YouTube and a few different videos and here and there. And and the thing that kept coming up was you need a mentor or something like that because it’s not something you can learn easily.
I’ve learned firsthand now. So, but, yeah, that was the first thing I did was started actually looking, like, for teachers or something like that, and that’s where I come across IDTA. And few testimonials in there and reviews and, you know, it didn’t have a bad review. So I had to convince the partner that to spend the money, and I got that And they often do. It’s like, yeah.
We wanna do something, but, you know, they have to be on the board too. So, and she trusts me. So I got that one across the line and, yeah, took the jump and yeah.
Dani: And you’re you’re really young. Like, you’re on the 30. Right?
Lachlan: Yeah. Yeah.
Dani: I think there’s a lot of traders that wish that they started when they were under 30. So you’re actually a rare breed amongst our community. More and more younger people are coming to us now, but I think at one stage you weren’t one of the only ones. So, yeah, it seems to be something that people are attracted to later in life. So it’s awesome to see.
And you are gonna be a first time dad soon too. Right?
Lachlan: Yeah. Certainly. Didn’t have enough on my plate, so I thought I’d light it up more.
Dani: Chuck a baby in there at the same time. So has everything changed? So the fact that you’re gonna be a dad in August, has anything changed in regards to how you’re seeing trading now potentially compared to how you were prior? Just just curious. Has anything changed for you?
Lachlan: Not particularly because I don’t wanna put more pressure on myself. I’m trying to try and keep the same mind, I guess. Obviously, it gives me more reason to work hard, you know, put in the time and the effort, but was always this you know, that was always one of the reasons. Like, I always wanted to have kids, and and this was sort of a a driving factor. It was sort of my not my app, but my tool I could use to be able to spend that more time with them.
You know? I don’t wanna be stuck in that rat race as they call it. You know? So I wanna be able to be there for them, and that was always a plan. And that’s, yeah, coming to fruition.
Dani: That’s what you’re doing. You know, I’ve, I’ve been watching your journey over, a couple of years. You’ve been with two years at the April.
And to see your growth and your progression over that time. And, I know you’ve invested in some coaching as well with one of our traders, Bruce. And, yeah, and you just seem to be, yucky, really clear on what you’re doing now. Would you say that you are clearer, in how you’re reading the story of the markets and what you’re trading compared to when you first started?
Lachlan: I think back, you know, twelve, eighteen months ago, I think it wasn’t even trading the same. Like, I think almost almost wasting my time, really, because, you know, it’s it’s the guessing game sort of thing. And and I’ve I wish I didn’t wait so long sort of thing to to get that extra help in coaching, because it’s sort of giving me a lot better direction and, you know, advice and tools to use and little tips or tricks that might help be helpful, which they have been. So, yeah, it’s definitely me on a straighter and narrow path.
Dani: So safe to say that your trading confidence has changed over time?
Lachlan: Oh, absolutely.
Dani: So good. And, anything else that’s changed over time, like mindset, risk management? Like, how has that changed over time as well?
Lachlan: Definitely, confidence has been a like, a confidence has been a big thing for me entering chat trades. So trying to leave that fear outside, you know, and not bring it into trading. I certainly still battle it a bit, but I’m definitely improved. You know? I, you know, I can’t muck around for the rest of the time.
Yeah. So, yeah, just taking the leap. You know, I need to be entering all the trades, you know, more focusing on process, not so much result. You know, if that’s my setup, that’s my setup. I need to be into it.
If, you know, if not, need to stay up. And that’s where I’ve also been able to sit into trades. You know, if I’m happy with my entry, whatever it does, it doesn’t bother me. I’m not there clicking the mouse, moving my stop loss or anything like that. You know?
Just let it go. So that’s been a good thing for me. As long as I get my entry good, I’m happy just to sit there and watch it. So it sounds like you are far more disciplined and patient than prior. Yeah.
Dani: So would you recommend IDTA to others?
Lachlan: Yeah. I would absolutely. Definitely a lot of help. I certainly wouldn’t be here where like, be where I am in my journey, without them. So yeah.
They’ve got all the extra tools and help, and, you know, they also go above and beyond what they, you know, what you sort of pay for, I guess. You know? They they actually genuinely care. So and they do wanna see you succeed. So, you know, they’re not just a money grab company.
You know? They they generally care. So, yeah, I’m happy to recommend them to anyone that’s interested in trading.
Dani: Amazing. Thank you for joining me today, and I wish you all the best, and good luck in August
Lachlan: Thank you
Dani: Thank you, Lachy
