Hi. I’m Peter Carter and I’m three years into my journey trading futures markets. I’m the New Zealand IDTA virtual Hub manager, keen to help others on this path, and enthusiastic about the potential of trading to generate significant amounts of income.
My background is 36 years working as a Forester and Technology Manager for a large NZ Corporate, and after completing a Masters of Technology Management at University of Waikato and being restructured out of a job, bought into a small startup business measuring wood quality in the forest and wood processing industry. I have since added the NZ/Aus Distributor role for an Italian utility pole strength testing technology and continue to play a leading role in these two businesses.
Meantime with my wife, Sue, we’ve invested in a number of residential and commercial properties and development projects, with mixed results through the economic cycles over the past 20 years.
I love the outdoors, mountain biking, walking, kayaking, and ocean swimming. Landscaping and gardening are also great pleasures. We’re wholefood, plant based eaters, and enjoy growing as much of our own food as we can. At home I’ve always got a project on the go, and am currently building a tiny house on a trailer to stay in “at the beach”.
Now is the time in our lives that we want to slow down a bit and do more of the things in life that we most enjoy. We’ve learned the benefits of diversification, the need for multiple sources of income, ideally passive. Superannuation is nice, but just not enough to enjoy living life as we would like, into the future.
Trading offers an attractive way to produce a generous income while working just 1-2 hours a day and many fewer days a year than we’ve worked in the past. It has the appeal that it can be done from anywhere in the world with a laptop and internet connection.
What’s not to like about a “global nomad” lifestyle, being able to spend time with friends and loved ones around the world and visit places that would otherwise remain unfulfilled “bucket list” dreams!
Trading, with the teaching and support of IDTA, is an enabler for us to pursue these goals to fulfil our dreams and support others to achieve their ambitions.
