Hey my name's Malcolm. I've heard plenty of people say they wish they could push the reset button on 2020. For me, that year was 2014.

It was our 16th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day. We parked the car near the beach in a dead-end street at one of our favourite spots. Crossing the bitumen with a fully loaded esky, we heard the whine of a 4WD in reverse accelerating at speed...before we could even turn around we were hit from behind by a tourist who was reversing out of her park. She saw us, panicked, and hit the accelerator instead of the brake. My wife forward rolled into the gutter, and I took the full brunt of the impact, flying into the air and landing on my head on the road. Bystanders thought I should have been dead!

Miraculously, I was released from hospital less than 48 hours later. The next few weeks were “interesting” to say the least...if you’ve ever suffered a head trauma, you’ll know what I mean.

See I was supposed to travel back overseas at the end of the week to continue a major radio network project. I was eventually cleared to fly a few weeks later...

Fast forward the rest of the year, my wife suffered Major Depression, and was off work for the rest of the year and was made redundant in December. I got news that my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. I returned mid-year and cared for him virtually full-time until he passed away in October. A check-up at the doctors led to two skin cancer surgeries on my scalp. My teenage son (diagnosed ASD-Asperger’s) was experiencing extremely heightened anxiety levels, and 2014 couldn’t end fast enough!

Most of that year went by without earning any significant income and living off what I’d earned while overseas, and it wasn’t going to last. Before I’d started that contract, I’d begun to learn about trading and “dabbled” in some live trades and was starting to gain some consistent traction. Problem was, when I was overseas (in a developing country for the better part of 3 years on and off), the internet was basically non-existent, making trading virtually impossible.

2014 was a year that forced me to learn to cope, keep it together, and look at the future. It also meant reconnecting with my IDTA family...they’re brilliant educators who provide a level of support and transparency I’ve not seen anywhere else. I’d seen some success, and knew the amazing benefits...working when you want, for as long as you want, ultimately from wherever you want, with unlimited potential. Let me tell you, there’s nothing like getting a “chicken dinner winner” five minutes into your trading session, shutting down and going and hanging out with the kids!

Getting this right means greater opportunity to travel, and make an impact in the lives of others.
